The Team

Meet your 2019-2020 Derwood MOPS Steering Team (and their families)! These ladies work hard behind the scenes to make our MOPS meetings wonderful.

Kate Harrell, Co-Coordinator

Kate is a wife, mommy, pre-school teacher, and lover of all things crafty. This is her 5th year in MOPS and 3rd year with the wonderful Derwood ladies. Kate and her husband, Mat, met while in college at Virginia Tech (GO HOKIES!) and have 2 kids, Liam (4) and Caroline (2).  They are a military family who has the honor of seeing the amazing world God has made. Some of Kate’s favorite things include the beach, football, and family time. Kate is excited to share fellowship, the love of Jesus Christ, laughter, and coffee with all the women in MOPS this year.

Lita Solis, Co-Coordinator

This is Lita's third year in MOPS. She is mom to a son named Gunner and a daughter named Honor.  She and her husband met 14 years ago at work,  and got married 9 years ago. She LOVES the outdoors: walking, hiking, jogging (although she will never claim to be a runner), biking, canoeing. She's trying to teach her kids to love it too. She is originally from Alabama and is still a Crimson Tide fan. She loves Jesus and the way the Holy Spirit can make scripture come alive when she stops and gives it her time. She is trying hard to do more of it- the stopping- to let the Lord meet her.

Kory Glossop, Assistant Coordinator and MOPS Kids

Kory Glossop is entering her 5th year with Derwood MOPS and is very excited for her new role this year. She and her husband Steve have been married for 7 years (as of October) and have 2 boys: Caleb is 4.5 and Levi just turned 1. Kory loves reality competition, cooking and home shows and talking to friends (or really anyone who will interact and talk back!) She currently works with the high school youth group at DBC in addition to helping with MOPS and is passionate about seeing both groups thrive in the grace and love afforded them in Christ!

Amanda Stack, Registration

KC is incredibly grateful for the friendships she has developed through MOPS and the opportunity to fellowship in a Christ-centered group of amazing women.

Amanda Henderson, Communications part deux

Amanda has been a part of MOPS groups in Idaho, France, and now Maryland. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's in graphic design in 2002. Her kids are Preston (now 13), Audrey (11), and Penelope (5). Her husband Dave is her polar opposite and they keep each other sane. She is very excited that this year all three of her kids will be in school!, and plans to find a part-time job in her field. She enjoys rock climbing (ask her if you'd like to come sometime...she likes to show newbies the ropes and needs more fellow mom climbing partners), rearranging and painting various rooms in her house, and photography. She is very grateful for this tribe of awesome women!

Taryn Ramsammy, Table Leader

Taryn is a wife, mother, and business owner. She loves Jesus, caffeine, and sarcasm, in that order. Her journey to motherhood began as a foster momma and she became a bio momma shortly after. She is hoping to add adoptive momma to that list very soon! She and her husband, Liam, got married just out of college six years ago. They have five adorably rambunctious kiddos: Three foster sons, ages 5, 4 & 2, and two bio daughters ages 3 & 7mo! This is her fourth year in MOPS and first year on steering. She hopes to serve and love on the women at her table this year.  God is going to do great things this upcoming year, she can’t wait to find out.

Rachel DeBacker, Table Leader

Rachel is a stay at home mom to five kiddos—Leila (8), Sophie (6), Emma (4), Bennett (3), and Liam (6). When she's not chasing them around (which is never), she's hanging out with her hubby, Devin, of 11 years. They live in Silver Spring but you can find Rachel all over the area dragging her kids along on our next adventure. In her spare time, she likes to read (especially for her book club), work on house projects, or sit in utter silence.

Amy Howard, Table Leader

Amy is a Pennsylvania farm girl who transplanted to DC, then Alexandria, and finally the Olney after marrying her husband Ben. The two met playing clarinet (Amy) and trumpet (Ben) in the pep band at Penn State University (WE ARE!!). She is currently a stay-at-home mom to their two sons, John (5) and Daniel (3) but plans to head back to teaching preschool once Daniel is in school full time. Some of her favorite things are spending time with family, doing outdoor activities, watching cooking and dancing competition shows, cross-stitching, and watching her boys enjoy spending time on the farm she grew up on. This is her second year in MOPS and first year on the steering team. She is excited to remind moms that they are not on their own on this wonderful but sometimes challenging journey of motherhood, but rather part of a team - with God and other supportive moms on their side.

Amy Gregory, Table Leader

Amy is originally from the Washington, D.C. area, but moved to Colorado in high school. She met her husband, Ryan, in college. They have three children, Alice (6), RJ (4), and Molly (1). She met her husband Steve online at this time and after dating for two years they got married in 2013. They brought their daughter home from Thailand in February of 2018 and officially adopted her in February of 2019! At the same time they decided to grow their family through embryo adoption and they adopted a little Indian embryo in January of this year and are due October 11! Her husband works for the department of energy and she works weekends as a nurse at Suburban hospital, but will be taking hopefully a year off starting this fall. This will be her second time doing MOPS and her first time as a table leader, and she's excited to see what God has in store for all of us this year!
